In the late 1990s child welfare leaders began to challenge the belief that attaining permanent families for preteens and teens was an impossible goal, and model specialized youth permanency services were developed across the country. Sadly many of the projects fell into disuse as initial funding sunset. In many cases, counties and states failed to see that services more than paid for themselves. This webinar corrects the mistaken belief that it is too costly to find families for youth in foster care. We introduce a proven methodology that creates the fiscal capacity for counties and states to provide the specialized youth permanency services needed to achieve permanent families for their youth at no net cost.

Presented by Gail Johnson Vaughan, M.A., and Jeff Landre of Mission Focused Solutions, an independent nonprofit advocacy organization providing strategies and solutions to child welfare organizations wishing to increase placement stability and improve permanency outcomes for children in foster care. 2014. Created as part of the Advocates for Families First collaboration of NACAC (Families Rising), the National Foster Parent Association, and Generations United.
