Provinces with No Adoption Assistance Programs

The North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) maintains a National Adoption Subsidy Resource Center, with funding from the Dave Thomas Foundation on Adoption. Through the center, we provide adoption assistance profiles on each province and territory in Canada.

Adoption assistance may be available for children with special needs. Often, assistance is provided to encourage the adoption of special needs children and remove the financial disincentives to adoption for the families. Profiles for each province or territory that maintains a program are available on this web site.

If you have additional questions, please call the North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) at 651-644-3036 or our help line at 800-470-6665, or e-mail us at

Adoption Assistance is funded at the provincial level in Canada. Those provinces, territories, or agencies that do not currently support a post adoption assistance program include:

  1. Quebec
  2. Dilico Ojibway Child and Family Services (Ontario)
