Adoption Support Network
(Minnesota)

The North American Council on Adoptable Children, Children’s Home Society & Family Services, and HOPE Adoption & Family Services International are pleased to introduce a network of supports for adoptive parents and adoptees in Minnesota, including:

For adoptive parents—

  • peer support from parent support specialists, experienced adoptive parents who can provide emotional support, information, resources, and referrals
    regional in-person and on-line parent support groups
  • a volunteer center on Facebook, through which parents can request and offer support to one another
  • retreats for mothers, transracial parents, and parents of teens

For adoptees—

  • on-line social networking system for mutual support and resources
  • statewide adoptee advisory committee through which adoptees develop leadership skills and provide input to the broader adoption service system

For parent support groups—

  • grants to fund training opportunities

For kinship adopters—

  • peer support from experienced parents who can provide emotional support, information, resources, and referrals
  • a targeted on-line parent support group
