Frequently Asked Questions about the Conference
What is Denver’s weather in August? High temperatures are likely to be in the 70s and 80s, with little humidity.
What is the conference dress code? Casual (slacks, jeans). Since rooms vary in temperature, we recommend that you dress in layers or bring a sweater.
What is the difference between a CEU and a certificate of attendance? A CEU is a unit of continuing education recorded on a transcript at a college or university. Professionals in many disciplines—social work, nursing, etc.—need CEUs to stay licensed. A certificate of attendance simply says you were at the conference for a certain number of hours (often adequate for parent training requirements). Check with your agency to see if you need CEUs.
Can I register on site? Yes, but please register in advance if at all possible. Pre-registration helps us make room assignments and order materials.
Will there be snacks during breaks? To keep registration costs down, we do not offer snacks. We do provide coffee in the morning, and cold beverages during afternoon breaks. Attendees can also eat light snacks at the Thursday evening reception, and enjoy a sit-down luncheon on Saturday.
Can I schedule a special meeting during the conference? Yes, check with NACAC about room availability before June 1. We assign special meeting rooms on a first-come, first-served basis.
How do I get messages to attendees? We will have a message board in the registration area; attendees can also leave messages at the individual’s hotel.
Does the hotel have a pool? Yes, for registered guests.
When does the children/youth program end? It closes 15 to 30 minutes after each day’s workshops. Children may come with parents to Thursday evening’s reception and silent auction.
Can I bring my child to a workshop or institute? Because children can be disruptive, we ask that you do not bring them to the conference sessions.
