AdoptWalk

Beginning in 2004, NACAC launched AdoptWalk to raise awareness and raies funds funds for NACAC's work. AdoptWalk is open to everyone who would like to show their support for waiting children who dream of finding loving, permanent families. AdoptWalk is a 2.8-mile walk around Lake Nokomis, followed by a picnic with free food, beverages, and entertainment for all walkers at the Lake Nokomis Community Center.
Funds raised support NACACs work to provide services and information to families who have adopted children with special needs, educate adoption professionals, and work for system change. Participants can download an AdoptWalk Fact Sheet to share with sponsors, as well as a Tips for Raising Money factsheet to help them get started.
AdoptWalk is also designed to raise awareness about the need to find permanent families for all children.

| WHAT: |
Family friendly 2.8-mile walk around Lake Nokomis, followed by a picnic for participants at the Lake Nokomis Community Center. AdoptWalk is a fundraising event for NACAC, providing an opportunity for grassroots participation by anyone wishing to support adoptoin. It is also an awareness-raising event focusing on the need for permanent families for all children. All walkers receive a free T-shirt, picnic lunch with free food and beverages, face painting, and DJ entertainment. Door prizes will be provided by Totally Kids fun furniture & toys. Sports celebrities will sign autographs and join in the fun! |
| WHO: |
200 to 300 walk participants including the general public, parent groups, adoptive and foster families, extended families, friends, co-workers, and adoption professionals. Walkers are encouraged to collect pledges and bring their donations to the walk. |

Funds raised support NACAC's work to support and train adoptive parents, educate adoption professionals, and provide services and information to families who have adopted children with special needs. |
| TO REGISTER: |
Walkers may participate as individuals, families, or as teams representing adoption organizations or groups. Registration forms can be completed online, or walkers can choose to print a pdf and mail or fax it to NACAC. Registration forms should be returned by May 16, 2013.
All walkers should download a Sponsor Pledge Form. You can also download an AdoptWalk Fact Sheet to share with sponsors, as well as a Tips for Raising Money factsheet to help you get started.
Individuals - All walkers (unless registering as a family) must complete an Individual Registration Form (pdf). Individuals will be asked to indicate if they are walking as part of a team. Walkers should retain their Sponsor Pledge Form to turn in at the walk.
Families - The Family Registration Form (pdf) allows all members of a family to register using one form. Families will be asked to indicate if they are walking as part of a team. They should also retain their Sponsor Pledge Form to turn in at the walk.
Teams - Each team captain will need to complete the Team Registration Form (pdf). Once a team's participation has been verified they will be added to the list of choices on both the Individual and Family Registration Forms. Each team member walking will need to complete an Individual Registration Form or Family Registration Form and retain the Sponsor Pledge Form to turn in on walk day. |
